Joyful Yoga 40+ with Meditation

Join us for Iyengar style Yoga with a playful edge that will keep you smiling. All levels welcome. We will rejuvenate each morning with a 2-1/4 hour class and relax each afternoon with a 1-1/2 hour restorative class before dinner.
As we mature, we need to modify our practice to honor the changes in our bodies. The Yoga asana practice will focus on creating strong bodies and flexible joints, using props as needed to safely enjoy the full benefits of the poses. Daily Mindfulness meditation will encourage a deeper more reflective practice, which nurtures the soul and cultivates self acceptance.
Our retreat will be based at Kalani Retreat Center on the Puna Coast of the Big Island. In the afternoons, Tammy and her husband Mike want to share with you the enchanted peacefulness of the Puna Coast by inviting you on excursions to some of the unique adventures this area has to offer.
This will be Tammy’s 6th year at Kalani. Tammy has a relaxed style of teaching and an eye for detail that comes from her Iyengar training. She has been teaching Yoga for 18 years and is director of Yoga In The Valley in Palmer, Alaska. She also teaches Stress Management and Back Care; practices Cranial Sacral Therapy; and leads Mindfulness-Based Yoga Therapy groups. Tammy and Mike split their time between Alaska and Hawaii. They are developing an exotic fruit orchard not far from Kalani.
Tammy is certified at the 500 level with Yoga Alliance. She obtained certification to teach Iyengar in 1993 and Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy in 1996. She received an advanced PRYT certification to lead Mindfulness Based Yoga Therapy groups in 2004.
